Hello,

I have a brand Raymarine P70 autopilot control head (Seatalkng) would like to swap it for an ST6002 classic control head. Any takers?

You would be welcome to mine, despite going back to Raymarine it still lives most of its life in a world of confusion, making up courses and sending me in ever decreasing circles, if your P70 is reliable I would stick with it: Raymarine stuff is not what it was and their 'standard' charges for inspection and maintenance are horrendous and only warranted for a year.

Any particular reason? The P70 is also Seatalk compatible, is not obsolete and uses less power.

The P70 uses SeatalkNG and it will be a real pain to fit into my existing Seatalk classic network at the helm.

Ours is running happily on a seatalk network. No NG. Simple to add to the system and still repeats all the other seatalk info on the network. Just the setup and calibration uses slightly different screens.

Hi, I have 2 p70's and a r70 connected to an SPX30 autopilot, I've also had the going around in circles problem, along with "no heading" and various other spurious error messages. I'm still not sure what caused the problem, but it wasn't the either the p70 or the r70.

I've had a new circuit board in the SPX30 and a new fluxgate compass and the system now seems to work OK (all fingers crossed and touching a nice bit of teak)

The SPX30 didn't stay in production for very long, so my guess is that it's proven to be a "can of worms".

Before swapping the p70 out I'd make sure that the SPX30 or corepack are working OK.

I'd also make sure that the P70 has the latest software installed on it, the earlier versions had bugs.
