I'm on a bit of a mission to try and remove anything that might go bang from the boat, and replace it with alternatives. The petrol outboard on the dinghy has gone, and we're going to manage with oars (don't use it often, so not a big deal really). The next target is the gas cooker. I'd like to take it away, remove all the gas, and replace with electric. We've got a nice big gennie that should cope pretty well, but I haven't found much in the way of suppliers of a decent electric cooker that will fit in the standard slot in the galley.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Belling make a good range. We have one in the lambing caravan that must be at least twenty years old, and hasn't rusted through. Only used 6 weeks in a year, and ignored for the rest.

No doubt you could respray the white to something more exciting, and bolt on a couple of swivel housings.

Why not go Diesel? Clean, efficient, reliable and made to fot in the gas slots. I had a Wallas 95DU and would have one again tomorrow!

We have a wallas diesel hob, and it seems to work well so far, although have only used it two or three times. The advantage of them is you don't need to start the genny, so you can still use 'em in quiet anchorages in the evening.

Others on here have them and are not so keen, the problem seems to be they don't get hot enough, but ours gets plenty hot on the first ring, and the second ring is only for keeping stuff warm, it's not supposed to get as hot.
