Swansea Coastguard petition

Signed. The savings associated with this move will be tiny compared with the new overseas aid budget.

Maybe but neither the MCA nor you are starving or likely to be.:(

I have not signed. I cannot see any reason why we need both milford and swansea and I can see every reason why various govty organisations bneed to change and make efficiency savings as time goes on.

Milford port authority already control the haven though thats a different job to what the MCA ia about. Anyway, we agree on just one MCA station. I couldnt care where it is on the S Wales coast. Or indeed the N Devon / Cornwall coast

who actually covers the Irish Sea ?

For the UK the Irish Sea is currently covered by the Coastguard Stations at Milford Haven, Holyhead, Liverpool and Belfast. For the Republic there's a search and rescue centre in Dublin.

I share Bosun Higgs' view. It appears unnecessary to have more than one Coastguard Station for the Bristol Channel and adjacent waters. Milford Haven seems as good a location as any. Consequently I have not endorsed the Swansea petition.
