I notice in an old 2008 thread comments on the difficulty in getting ashore in Swanage. In the threads it is commented that a Water Taxi might exist. I also in a web search found another reference to a Swanage Water Taxi in a "What to do around Poole guide".

A further web search reveals a dedicated Water Taxi for the Ocean restaurant.

Is there any other water taxi service here? My boat is actually small enough to "beach" and wade ashore, but not really big enough for a tender. I could not see anywhere in Swanage to tie up either.

We can wade ashore where necessary but it is nice sometimes to look "half smart" when ashore rather than looking like Robinson Crusoe.

Is there a taxi, are there moorings where you can get ashore "dry", just making sure I have all the right contact details for next summer.

There is a water taxi of sorts, i think its run by the same company that hire boats off the beach they are almost certainly in hibernation for the winter ? Are you heading there for the New Year celebrations ?

I was thinking Imay do the same

I see, well you have more options in the summer most of the moorings are privately owned so not really usable, we run a Boston Whaler as a school boat and when we use it for our own purposes just anchor in close to the beach in the shallows and take a second anchor ashore.

but if you want to stay dry its a dinghy or water taxi if its available, i dont have a number to hand but the harbour master is Russ Johnson if you call him he can advise you of the water taxi's availability.

If i find the number i will PM it to you

Ian
