I think Florence touched on this, and the difficulty in getting the relevant practice in while in the UK in order to show competence. I imagine that amongst all the other planning this is quite a headache!

Garmin didnt give any reason why they were stopping the insurance.
I joined a local gun club at Longtown and they were really helpful in teaching us and then giving us a letter to show that we were trained .That and a police check is needed before the governor will issue you with the licence to hire. We also had to pass a short test at the hire shop to show safety in handling a rifle. You will also be asked to carry a none lethal deterrent.
