Hi Guys
Just a query that crossed my mind lately. Attached please find photos of the grommet that attaches to the OB that guides the cable through the inside of the OB. It is made of rubber. lately i noticed that on one side the rubber seemed that popped up a bit outwards. Dont know if its like that on purpose to help with the movement of the OB. Hope pictures will help. Maybe it looks like a silly question but im new to this field and would appreciate your kind help. Also tried to push the rubber thing backwards but seems very stiff. Is it normal?View attachment 58804View attachment 58805View attachment 58806

I wouldn't worry about that small amount of flexing. However, you could always remove the side cowl to the engine and re-seat the grommet.

Thanks Keith. Will leave it for winter then. Is it a straightforward job or ? not that technically inclined but always try to do my best. thanks again for your help.

Very straightforward. There will be a number of bolts that hold the cowling in place. On my motor they are 8mm hex but also have a philips screw head. Go easy if you use a screwdriver as you can burr them easily. When reinstalling I put a dab of grease on the thread to help prevent corrosion. They usually screw into brass bushes in the opposite cowling which can break free if you go heavy handed.
