Can anyone make a helpful suggestion please ??

I am not confident with O/B engines.

I moor in Abingdon and have a 40hp Suzuki on my boat. Can anyone suggest anywhere I can get a service within a reasonable distance. I do not have a trailer and would rather not remove the engine myself. My local guy is a Honda supplier and seems very reluctant to look at my Suzi (for understandable reasons) I do not really want to take 10 days off work to cruise down to Bridge Marine, where the engine was last serviced.

Is there somewhere nearer, or possibly a mobile spanner man who could sort this out for me ??

I spoke with Mike today and he said "phone next Monday and he would try to fit me in" I took this as "not a straightforward job but I'll sort you out if you are desperate". He is a Honda dealer after all

He made the very valid point that if he found anything that needed doing he would have a struggle to get parts at short notice.

Mike is extremely well spoken of on the river but I can see very well why he would be hessitant. If there was a need for a part that was hard to get, and he has no resrve of Suzuki parts, the job could stretch on for days.

Well he is being honest and surely the same statement will apply to any itinerant outboard fixerupper unless specialists in your make.

Good old Mr Google can always help:

Just enter your postcode.

Thanks Lensman but Bridge Marine is my nearest listed Service agent ( by water anyway).

How do others manage - are you all DIY experts ?

Mike serviced an old Suzuki 25hp for me a few years ago and luckily any parts needed he managed to get ,I have a couple of small Suzuki outboards for my fishing boat and tender which i get serviced at Pacer marine but they are small enough to manhandle guessing that the 40hp is not esp if four stroke Steve.
