Hi Guys,
I have a 20 foot boat with a suzuki DF 115. Recently, I have found that the engine does not trim up fully. It trims up 80 percent of the way, and then it seems like the relay cuts off i.e there is no more motor sound.
It does not tilt up enough for me to engage the manual lock.
I opened the hydraulic oil fill cap when the motor was as high up as it could go, and fluid did flow out, indicating that fluid level was ok.
I do not understand why the motor would cut off in that position.
any ideas?
Regards
Akshay

Doesn't seem like. It was fine till a few days ago. I cannot manually lift it to full tilt either :( of course, I am manually lifting after opening the bypass valve

Have you checked the limit microswitch on the tilt tube hasn't moved. Take a look on the tilt tube near the steering arm where you should see the switch with a small projection. You can rotate this to adjust where the relay will get cut off.

Is it worth bleeding out the fluid to check for water ingress ?
Is the trim pump external and on the transom and perhaps succeptable to this ?
Had a similar problem years ago with a mercury outboard.

We have a winner! The switch had moved! Funny, could not find any mention of the switch in the service manual!
Thanks a Ton Keith-i

I have had several with this fault, if it has enough oil then its the small filters between the pump block and the cylinder base which are blocked, needs the whole trim assembly off so you can split the pump from the cylinder.
