Suzuki 2.5hp 4 stroke

I have a 2019 2.5hp Suzuki. Water pisses out of the tell tale. When mounted on the edge of my workbench with the leg in a bucket, it goes about 6 feet if you pick up the revs (and about 3 feet at idle)
Yep mine does the same. The stream stopped once so I unscrewed the nozzle on the outtake and it was blocked. Cleared with a pin and was fine afterwards.

I only get a splutter from mine but don't do what I did......left it in neutral in the test tank and ran it at mid revs for several minutes, a bush in the lower drive seized solid. While I had it all in bits I replaced the impeller and checked all the waterways as I had always wondered about the splutter but it was no better. From memory it wasn't easy to get the water pipe from the bottom to mate correctly with the powerhead when reassembling. One of those simple jobs that took hours.

Took the power head off and found the waterway was blocked with what I presume is dried out seawater. Ran it in the tank and getting an erratic splutter...it does seem there are differences in these engines even from the same year as I am sure there are pipes to the telltales on my other one whilst this one seems just to have holes in the leg...

Depending on age it's either got exhaust relief holes in the leg for water to spray out of...and or it has also a tell tale.
If you want a better tell tale remove the thermostat

both engines are the from 2007, the barn find water pump seemed lighter in construction than the other one so perhaps it has not had the recall work.

They are super engines, just the right weight and enough power to push me along in my little punt..

2007 has the older gearbox and doesn't have a tell tale stream

I bought one of these about a month ago, the tell tale does spurt water at tick over, more as the revs increase. The water intake holes are higher than you think, are you sure they are below the water line in your tank?

That's interesting...they both produce intermittent squirting from the two little holes about 10 inches down from the top of the shaft..!..

I think Steve 66' post may explain the lack of water coupled with a lack of overheating...

They all have relief holes that pulse water spray, but the later model has an internal modification that directs water to a tell tale above the relief holes
