I agree, particularly in the south west; I know and symphathise the whole area is scandalously denied proper work by london-centric politicians and they have to ' make hay while the sun shines ' but rip - off charges are not the answer, they will drive people away - I remember my chum driving to Wales saying " would you like me to turn around and just leave my wallet ?! "
I've always thought Devon, Cornwall and the Isle Of Wight have ridiculously untapped sources of talented, skilled people; but that would be actually making useful things, not shuffling imaginary figures in banks and actually making the square root of zero...

Chatting with many sailors here most are at breaking point. This rip off attitude is driving present boaters away and future customers (young people) seem torealise that it’s a rich mans sport open to the pirivilege few.
The empire building harbour authorities alongside marinas will cause it to crash in the end I suspect.

Rieux on the River Vilaine - paradise.
We left for the weather AND the prices. Apart from July and August when prices are high (by French standards) the cost of yachting here is incredible. I’m not even going to start on the Annual Berth charges or Passeport Escales or everyone will be coming here!!!
