We had our survey today on our planned purchase....
About 09h00 this morning, the broker phoned me to tell me, despite previous assurances that all was present and accounted for, that they couldn't find the original VAT invoice...... my heart sank.... and I told the broker it was a show stopper, so they'd better get their finger out.
Anyway, they had spoken to the surveyor, and he phoned me to let me know that he'd conduct the survey, and hold off on writing it up until we have decided how or if to proceed, and if we walked, then he'd not charge us!!!!!!!!!
So..... top marks, and lots of praise to Nick Vass, YBDSA surveyor based in the Solent......
Subsequently, early this evening, the broker/vendor have located the appropriate paperwork, and besides telling me for the first time today that she is also Part 1 registered, we are in good shape...
Regardless, prior to this being confirmed, Nick spent an hour with me talking through the survey conclusions... and then put together a short written summary for me to send to the marine finance company to get things moving....
We used Nick for our last survey, and his report was comprehensive and thorough, and so I just wanted to praise him publically for superb customer service, and a very thoughtful approach.... even the broker described him in glowing terms!
(As an aside, the survey threw up nothing of concern.... a couple of minor things, but nothing to get worried about.....)
