There have been proposals for underwater turbines to generate electricity off the MOK for a few years now, over a decade, approved by Crown Estates and planning. The distribution grid was not good enough and all got shelved. The narrow band doesn’t suggest wind towers. Perhaps the underwater turbine concept us going to be trialled.

It would not be good to lose the ability to use the counter current that can allow a yacht to stem the tide by keeping very close to the MoK shore.

The counter current is very close in and likely an underwater turbine would not be that close, preferring to be in the stronger current sweet spot, the very area we want to avoid.

However, you could be correct and the close to shore passage may become restricted, we shall see. If it does it is hardly an imposition anyway, in my opinion, taking the wider route on a favourable tide.

There used to be two(?) tidal turbines in the Snd of Sanda, not sure how close to the surface they were? Used to give them a wide berth.
