I would like to make a sprayhood for my Hunter Medina. I will do all the canvas work and windows (it's what I do), but I don't know where to get the tubular frame. Any ideas? Thanks.
Thanks Doug, I'll look for the message.I am not far from you and have a sprayhood for sale which allegedly came off an Hunter. Anyway I will give you a PM with the details.
Thanks Steve. I did consider that, but thought it might kink.If Doug's solution doesn't work out, it isn't a big deal to DIY. 25mm tube can be bent round a form - I used a piece of chip board with bits of wood screwed to it, to bend the tube to shape. The end result may not have been quite as smooth a curve as a pro might have got, but any imperfections weren't noticeable, and the bits to join it aren't hard to find.
As you say you are in Fowey.I would like to make a sprayhood for my Hunter Medina. I will do all the canvas work and windows (it's what I do), but I don't know where to get the tubular frame. Any ideas? Thanks.
Thanks Sandy, I'll call them tomorrow.
That's why you use a form, so it doesn't bend too far, and you go slowly, using clamps to pull it into place, rather than brute force. Thanks Steve. I did consider that, but thought it might kink.
We had a Hunter Medina and as they are not so large I would recommend you use a slightly smaller diameter stainless steel tube 22mm or 19mm as it will be significantly easier to bend and the shape of the canopy arches means it would easily be strong enough IMHO. To bend the tube you can rent a conduit pipe bender, however it is tricky to get the nice arch out of a a bender like this and you may have to be happy with a series of small bends. You can get a stainless steel fabricator to make the hoops to a pattern, which there are I understand some in the Falmouth area. Thanks Steve. I did consider that, but thought it might kink.
