Sunken small yacht, Newton Creek IoW

There on Sunday. Wreck still marked by bouy, plus anchored replacement vessel and various tenders. Position was read out in LNM by coastguard

Apparently the current floating boat wasn't a replacement, he'd had two boats for a while, the sunken one was his shed containing bikes etc.

The NT asked for police support during the recovery and divers were booked but the police canx their attendance at last minute so NT now waiting for new date. The chap has lived on his vessel(s) for some three years in Newtown in one corner of the creek or another.

I wonder why he attempted to beach his ‘shed’ by towing it with his tender under oars then? If he had a serviceable second boat.

Why do they require police support ?

I also thought that he went else where in the winter, Portsmouth having been mentioned once ?

Mud, except in the middle of the channel, especially approaching Shalfleet Quay. That's gravel or was many years ago trying to get to the pub ...
Mud of varying degrees of firmness, yes. Its not something we take much notice of. That aspect of seamanship is fairly unimportant to us, but in return we have to pay more attention to other aspects.
