Doesn’t ring a bell, was this during draw off ? I can only assume it comes from anyone of the houses above Swan island to Tedd. Possibly the first one directly above Mallard place with the new boat house ? They had something new recently

Okay this all makes sense now !

It must have been recovered during the draw off as it’s been there a very long while. I am guessing undiscovered as it was underwater only to surface when we went full tidal due to draw off start this week.

The thread in next door is old. He left it at the bridge in gear and disappeared and the RNLI were called etc as they thought he went in

He then went back later to recover it as they left it at bridge hence the story in next door.

Absolute loon.

I suspect the outboard has long since had it !

I Don’t think it comes from the first house above Malard place I pass from Teddington Lock to Richmond lock quite frequently and I’ve never seen this particular little dinghy anywhere along that stretch of the river

Still not having a lot of success finding the owner of the sunken dinghy I have tried contacting Teddington Lock Richmond Lock also The EA Who seem very keen to come and collect the boat . And I’m afraid when I click on the link above I am forwarded to the next door app with local Richmond area information regarding the closure of garden centres lost cats etc but unfortunately nothing links me to the article about a lost Boat !

See my post above, it's not the house I thought, it's this lunatic below, posted form next-door!

Where did you find it? did it appear as a result of draw off?

I am moored at Tedd harbour btw.

Hello good people of southwest London. Last night, around 11 pm, outside of the Boat House in Teddington, I was attempting to release my vessel (a ten foot dinghy) named WilMo-Upon-Thames when it capsized. I suspect that the hull had been damaged above the waterline and when I climbed aboard it wasn’t but ten seconds later that I found myself sitting in a bathtub of ice-cold Thames. It was pitch black, 1 degree outside, and I was trapped in a sinking boat halfway between land to my left and the pontoons to my right with no one to hear me scream. Luckily, I was bundled up, and an ex-swimmer, so when the boat finally flipped over I let it go and decided to drift with the current. There was no sense fighting it, and it’s the last thing you want to do. At this point I was caught in what I would describe as a riptide. I was able to stay calm and started reaching out for the boats and dock because that’s where the current was pushing me. I remained calm to think. I could grab and hold on to things, but my clothes, and especially my ParaJumper jacket, were saturated with water and must of weighed an additional…I don’t know….a lot. There was no way I could pull my self aboard the dock or any one of the vessels I reached out for. I considered ditching the clothes but then realised that I was growing closer and closer to hyperthermia. The first sign is that you start breathing quickly. I knew that if I allowed myself to float a little longer I could at least guide myself to the bank on my left where I could ‘roll’ onto shore. And that’s exactly what I did. I floated on my back for about 1/4 of mile past the Wharf until eventually the bank met the river. Like a beached whale I rolled ashore. Unluckily, it was a gated development, so there was a fence to contend with. Eventuality, I slogged my way back to the Boat House where I had parked and wiped myself down with a roll of paper towels which I always keep in the car for occasions such as this. SO… If you se a 10’ green dinghy named WilMo-on-Thames please let me know. I love it. The coastguard, RNLI, and the PLA have all been notified. I suspect it’s somewhere between Teddington and Richmond. It’s named after my Maine Coons, Wilson and Moira. Wre

Thanks for all your help ✅ I’ve now managed to find the name of the owner and left my number on his website , Apparently he lost control while launching the dinghy at Teddington harbour sometime back in March this year and nearly drowned in the process.

He hasn’t contacted me yet but if you see the account above it reads like war and peace

Okay I have done a bit of digging. He has a video of him leaving his house on said boat. He lives in those modern large flats just BEFORE mallard place. Has a pontoon outside. The first below Mallard Place so he must live in Twickenham road.

His Nextdoor activity is old and I avoid it like the plague!

The account in your #7 does seem rather odd...
wiped myself down with a roll of paper towels which I always keep in the car for occasions such as this.
No mention of a lifejacket or buoyancy aid that might also have been useful for occasions such as boating alone in a dinghy in the dark in temperatures close to zero...o_O

Found the owner of the Dingy at last !!! after scouring every block of flats adjoining the river along the entire length of Strawberry Vale it turns out the owner lives practically next door to me even though I had never seen this little boat before?
I think he has only just ( had ) purchased it ?

Where are you ? I’m Tedd harbour ?
