Walton RNLI posted this on their FB page, along with a lengthy report, but the owner and his dog were rescued by their inshore lifeboat/RIB from Titchmarsh Marina. Both were safe & OK. It's an Anderson 22 and was the new owner's first voyage in it, he was working on the boat on the hard for several months. Very sad.

Looks as if she should come up without too much trouble and may be not too much the worse for a dip!

Poor guy. What a rubbish introduction to sailing.

Really bad luck; the owner was doing everything right.

I hope the owner’s insurers pay up promptly.

A similar issue last year in Bramble Creek last year, another scaffold pole, & it holed Pioneer's tender I'm told. Hearing discussions yesterday, clearly difficult/remove/cut, needs marking in some way.

I found the 3 posts in Kirby Creek in 2024: helpfully, they cover at half tide, making it easy to anchor over one near HW then sit down on it. The positions of the posts are:
N51º 52.679 E1º 13.501
N51º 52.673 E1º 13.572
N51º 52.625 E1º 13.498
