Hi all, fancy getting away on the early rising tide on Sunday morning. We can leave Blackwater Mariner shortly after 06:30 and I have permission to stay out 'all day', so we can return on the evening flood at around 21:00.

Crew (son) fancies a trip down the R Blackwater and out into the estuary. We can work the tides both ways with a bit of planning and the winds are looking good at the moment so it all sounds very nice.

Question; is there anywhere we can visit 'out at sea', any famous landmarks or whatever that we can use as a target destination? We are not planning going ashore but on the other hand...

Any suggestions would be most appreciated, thanks chaps.

Well you'll have to plug the tide for a bit so HW at 0800 and you just east of Osea. From there a trip out through the Spitway and up behind the wind farm. Turn on the tide just before 1400 and romp back home.

Wind forecast SW may turn a bit more south with onshore effect - sounds ideal. Sorry not to be joining you. Have a great day - we look forward to the video!:)

I often do a "all dayer" out of the Blackwater.
Mostly sail upto Walton pier and back.
Pick up a mooring at Stone, have a little dinner, then back to Millbeach.
Might go out Sat morning, stay out all night and back Sun morning.
Some times pick up mooring over Mersea for the night, but now they charge might go some other place.
Never stayed over Maylandsea yet, might give that a go later in season, i know it dries out, but plenty of mud to snugle down on .
If you see my boat "Fantasy" out give us a wave :)

Lawling creek

Up Lawling there is a nice little anchorage that does not dry plus a few moorings that you could pick up fir the odd night. We sometimes use them waiting for the flood to get back to the marina.
