Which location did you decide on?

Sorry coaster not been here for a while!

We took a year on a swinging mooring at Lydstep, I know stories of easterlies and losing boats but we have been fine so far.

They put down brand new moorings this year (local company) and from the swivel down they take full responsibility if it breaks.

We have seen a few fair storms and survived! Like 35knots from the east, I was not there to see it thankfully as someone that was said our boat was not a pretty sight!

Lets hope this damned summer improves!

Regards,

Steve

Just to clarify, I believe that boats have a right of navigation but not a right to fish in the range areas.

The action you should take when contacted by range control, Castlemartin or Manorbier (the two are separate and don't seem to liase with each other) depends on where you are. For example, when we were in our previous boat (a reasonably quick small motor cruiser), en route from Milford Haven to Tenby, Manorbier range called us when we were about one third of the way through their patch. I explained that a detour 12 miles offshore was not acceptable and that we would continue through towards Tenby. That proved to be perfectly acceptable.

There's also a small arms range at Penally but we've never encountered that in use.

Thanks for that, I will surely try that should I need to cross, save the 12 mile hike!

Cheers,

Steve

Interesting choice. Presumably it's reasonably priced?

I've always thought our boats and moorings are much tougher than us!

We all hope so but good weather seems unlikely for quite a while yet. Perhaps we'll get a decent September.

Have you managed any fishing yet?

Hi Coaster,

Just got back from a weekend down the boat, we had a great day today, weather was bewtifull!

Checked the tails today too and they are remarkably good considering what it goes through.

The mooring is not cheap, choice is purchase it for life for 3k (not transferable or resell) or rent for 1200 p/annum.

Regards,

Steve
