Cansome one tell me where to go for summer hols. We have and cotniue to do devon ann Cornwall to death. It's brilliant some where every few miles. Some times you cant get to all of them. Cos of tide or wind, so next time it;s always different.
Chaneli Isles/ Always the same. St Peters Port. Marks and Spencers. Just like Accringto. Alderney much better but why cant they sort out a decent harbour. It aint rocket science. French ports there abouts. Well a bit industrial to say the least. Cheap Fags is there only grace. Wot and where to go when yuou have seen the best!!

Ireland. Southcoast is very picturesque. If you've got the time and inckling, you could have a mosey along to the Shannon. Spent a couple of weeks over there on the river and the loughs. Pubs every where, good food and the people are very friendly.

Apart from that, its devon and corwall or froggy or the channel islands again!

Firstly St Peter's Port is actually St Peter Port. Secondly, Alderney, "why can't they sort out a decent harbour", " isn't rocket science". No , it isn't, but it's nearly as expensive, and while Guernsey have control of the purse strings it aint going to happen. Adjacent French ports "a bit industrial to say the least". You obviously have never been to Omonville, Goury, Diellette or Carteret. Please a) Get your place names right. b) find out why facilities are less than ideal, and c) visit these French ports before you post such crap.

Bill.

Ah. But I have been to alot of them, have'nt I. Or else would not say it, would I. Must admit the spellings not the best in English, so you will just have to put up with the French!!
That Lillets place is a bit crappy and the towns miles away, less you count that excuse of a village. Malo and Cherbourg, a bit like Manchester, Ok I suppose if you like that sort of thing. Lazardria? Hmm. Portrieux is nice, Triggieir? is not bad. Will that do for a quick tour of Britainy? I'm not saying that theres owt wrong with them all, Mostly we just go cos folk ask. How far you Bin, and to keep saying Birmingham gets a bit boring. The Chanel Isles are fine on sunny days with dead flat sea. But it's a bit of a bugger in anything else and the parkings atrocious!!

Suppose they all must look like wonderfull places if you have come from Brighton or Hull!!

Now your talking Barry. I must admit I have fond memories of Ireland, especialy the South coast, looks like a bit of a hike across though. Suppose The Silly Isles then Dunmore East might be the route at a guess. Then down to Cork and Kinsale. Then to Baltimore ad Schull. Now that sounds interesting.........../forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Well if you want to go on the boat for a short trip, you will have to go to Ireland, french northern coast, or UK southern coast. Cos that is where it is.

Or, put the boat on a truck and take it to the med. Then unlike the uk, nice places every few yards, not miles away. Also can jump in, so doesn't matter where you are.

But if you fancy doing a safari, it will probly be best to leave the boat behind. Mind you, bet there's loads of space on lake victoria. But will need aircon in the summer. So, head south, then go up the nile in winter, and lake victoria should be somewhere up there. You have to hang a right at Khartoum, and will need help past any dams.

Went to that Santrophy once. What a dump. never again, it was orible and 130deg. Tutts broke the seat in the boat when that Virgin Chalenger boat and his mate came out of the harbour. She had a sore bum for weeks!

Now the Nile sounds much more interesting, but have I got the right anty fouling and would Mucky not look out of place among all those Dows and Junks. What about the crocadiles, would Harry be safe?? What if God parted it, to let the Jews or Binladin back in or out. Would we run aground all of a sudden!!

Go straight to Cork from the Scillies.

It's the same distance from St. Mary's to Cork as to Kilmore Quay and you then save the boring bit between Waterford and Cork.

Cork area, you have 3 choices of landfalls, Ballycotton, Cork Harbour or Kinsale.

(Might even buy you a pint in East Ferry ! ! )

142 miles on the log.
138 miles on the GPS.
To Cork harbour. (4 marinas.)

Slightly shorter to Ballycotton. (No marina, only 6 visitor moorings)

Slightly longer to Kinsale. (3 marinas.)

As I thought. A bloody long hop. I hate big sea journeys. Tutts likes them worse! It's a nice thought but cant see her going for it. Used to spend alot of time round Ireland from N Wales. But then it's only 65 miles across, then amble about, up or down.

Put the "better half" to bed and go at night.

7 hours at 20 knots, you won't feel it. And then you can relax, totally relax, so much so, that you won't believe it.

The South West corner is way, way better than the East coast. Little harbours every few miles.

And then, of course, there are Cork black puddings !
