I am planning to replace all the pipework in my water system from deck filler to tank and then to pump and taps.

What type of hose is best to avoid nasties growing, and which supplier?

Current hoses are mucky, clear stuff, some re-inforced. I have heard that it should be blue? Yet have not seen any at the chandlers.

I used Hep20

for the domestic side from the engine to the sinks. Work perfectly well and can be very easily adapted as necessary. I suspect any braided transparent pope will grow bugs if there is any light near it.

Also, it's available from any plumbing merchant.

Try any caravan shop, they sell the red and blue pipe. Plus many other bits you might need at a fraction of the cost of a chandler.

Hi L,

Use Hep2o for pump and taps. It is a plastic grey coloured pipe designed to carry potable water and has a barrier within it to prevent ingress into the pipe (such as bilge water etc). The pipe and fittings are easy to install providing you use inserts when connecting the pipe to fittings.

You can buy Hep pipe and fittings from plumbing wholesalers - if you get stuck, let me know as I have Ks of meters of it.

Will.

As another has said : Caravan Shop.

They have extensive experience of this and advice is over counter. They are usually allied to workshops / dealers who work with such every day. Prices are usually attractive enough to not need online discounts etc.

As to growth in pipes - that is easily kept at bay by regular ie at least annual flushing through with Miltons fluid or dilute bleach solution. This is recc'd anyway to keep tanks, pipes etc. sweet.
As example - my house has natural well water. No Flouride or other treatments. I use this in the boat tank. You can imagine that natural water left will have worse storage growth potential than treated town water as you have in UK. But no I have no problem - as I flush system at regular intervals to prevent.

Thanks to all who have replied, the majority here and on another post suggest Hep20 so I will investigate that.

I have a further question. What type of 1.5" hose should I use from the filler to the tank.
The existing hose was clear, and looked revolting inside, presumably a coloured hose would keep the light out. I have seen white stuff - intended for toilet systems, and green braided which seems possible, but would it be suitable?

What do others use? Hep20 does not go this big.
