Thanks all who have replied, really useful.

I think I’m leaning towards a modern day boat style with maximum cockpit and entertaining space.

No point getting something which caters for overnight really well if I’m only doing that a few times. Need to get something that works best for the day trips with family.

Fjord, pardo, Mazu, Alen, De Antonio, wally. Lots to choose from

Agree ,
Here’s a few pics of “ modern “ to show what can be done . Ok the prices / range / size are all over the place
But regardless of price and size common denominators ......
1-Access to the sea
2- Sunbathing
In no particular order .

If they are the boats you're after then I suspect you'd be wasting your time at the Southampton boat show. Boot or Cannes will be a better bet I think.

All but the deAntonio are made in Italy . What does that tell you ?
Ans the “ best “ place to see theses and much more - a show in Italy :)
Go East young man to Genoa

Urgh, Mazu and Alen? I'd rather pick ANY of the other boats mentioned so far... :nonchalance:

Lots of wonderful sugestions but I don't recall if you have set a budjet there are some B expensive boats being bantered about.
Did you look at the Cranchi Endurance 30.
Sure it would do the job if not it would be an easy boat to trade up from.
Some of these designer boats mentioned would be very difficult to shift on as that end of the market customers prefer to buy new.

Not only some very expensive boats but also not what I would call Day Cruisers. All rather pointless if no Budget is given

I know a guy who “ day cruisers “ in one of theses https://www.denisonyachtsales.com/yachts-for-sale/160-Overmarine---Mangusta-Imperia/246419-yc

The holiday home is on the S tip of Cap d Antibes between Eden Roc hotel and a well known Russian guys place ,who owns a W London premier league club .
The boat is summoned and crew bring it to the bottom of the garden where they use the tender to embark and return later that day ....... if they can be arsed to go boating that is!

Quite a lot just day boat in all sorts returning to the villa .

Purposely kept price out of it. I want to find the right boat for my needs, rather than letting the budget dictate what to buy, so not really pointless at all.

I havent read the entire thread of suggestions but if anybody mentioned Princess V40 - V42 I'd concur. Large cockpit area will seat 10 in reasonable comfort, will sleep 4. Certainly when we cruise in company a friends V40 becomes the evening party boat thanks to its large cockpit.

Not Mazu and Alen, which are both built in Turkey afaik.
Possibly with some IT involvement, not sure about that.

Mazu yes not sure about Alen. But hey they all have Italian involvement nowadays.

My top in this list of inboard powered center consoles, huge day boat with ON accommodation would be the Blue Game, which are build by Sanlorenzo.

What would you call a "Day Cruiser"?

For me, it's any boat where outdoor entertaining space is given priority over living accommodation. I think size and price are irrelevant.

Well from this thread a Day Cruiser is anything that you go out in for a day..... So a 2.5 m Sib to a 160ft Motor Boat

As I said pretty pointless thread...….. Unless of course you are perhaps just wanting to show off

Not pointless at all - it's given you yet another chance to indulge your tedious love of virtue signalling....

But everyone has a budget, unless you are super rich, so an idea of what you would be happy to spend up to would be useful. If you are super rich, just say "money no object" and we'll understand :D

BTW, a thread asking for boat recommendations always must include:

1. PeterM suggesting a Fairline
2. Portofino suggesting an Itama
3. Oldgit suggesting anything that doesn't have stern drives

I see we have two out of three, so still some work to do ;)

What seems to be lost in translation is a boat suitable for 10 used for day trips, and a typical genre of boats with minimal accommodation that fall under that catch name. No need to get ruffled either way. You are not going to fit 10 on a typical "dayboat" comfortably or in some cases safely.
