If all Chi users are supposed to abandon their plans for the weekend then do let me know.

It would be quite unfair for one to suggest that HISC do occasionally give that impression...

We are at the top of Mengeham Rythe and sometimes the looks we get as we pass suggest we have forgotten to pay them their dues!

I did wonder whether there was some unwritten rule.... although another of the racers from HISC did pass me by and thank me for staying off his line and describe his fellow competitor in rather ungentlemanly terms !

My unwritten rules are:

Make contact with the other vessel and make your intentions clear - ie are you intending to stand on or give way? This is based on:
1) Assume the other vessel is helmed by a dimwit.
2) If I am racing and I am standon then only standon if it is not going to disadvantage me
3) If I am not racing but stand on vessel and I can give way without causing more mayhem, then give way - if the other vessel has acknowledged me - otherwise standon
4) If I am give way vessel then I got my passage wrong!

Well they are written now and may I suggest a little annex

Is that DAKA
Are we south of Eastoke
Is he still in a relaxed carefree mood or have the Pram dinghies gone out their way to ground him

Best watch for plumes of black sooty exhaust from his stern before we push that tiller across in case he thinks he can make the gap first /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Tongue in cheek /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'd be happy to let a motor boat past, especially as if I don't he may come past when I least expect it. However, things are a lot more laid back around here. We have dinghy racing through the mooring area, motorboats, water skiers, but there's enough space for everyone to get along.

I agree to some degree but having raced in Chi on Saturday and going for a chill out sail on Sunday I was really impressed by everyones' polite water manners and it was nice to see Terror out and about on Sat looking very smart.
A good start for the season /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Ah ... bum ... shame ... cos as they were unwritten I could change them to suit!

Anyway ... we know if it is you ... as we've said - you're the only one going slow ... with the Binos glued to your face scouring the raggies for totty! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

aww cmon - I go slow too - difference being that Black Spot can only make 7kts anyway.

T\'ain\'t the speed - its the handling

A fast planing MoBo handles better when planing (much better) than in displacement, coz thats what it is designed to do. In fact some with rudders lose steerage below 6kts. So I don't think the issue is just speed.

All IMHO and issued from the leisure of the Irish Sea (North Wales), not the over-crowded Solent.
