58.6 knots Chi Bar 9/9/02, and over 50 knots for 20 mins reducing to 40 .

Said goodbye to our tired genoa!

Can confirm wind in excess of 50 knots in the area at the time. We cleared the Needles early Tuesday afternoon and had a great sail to Poole, with gusts greater than 50 knot's.

With all that wind, I bet there werent half as many radio checks as normal! Or do you still do them from the marina pontoon? /forums/images/icons/shocked.gif

Actually, you could have done a marine version of the Jeremy Clarkson test when he measured the road speed at which a passenger in a variety of open cars lost his syrup. /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
