Straining rides

Well it had happen sooner or later.... all those piccies of nice shiny new bikes....

I've finally relegated my old Specialized to the role of winter bike, put my TT aside and apologised for using it less, and bought myself a nice new shiny bike as well...... :D

Anyone got any technical advice on how to tell SWMBO?

Very nice! Sounds like SWMBO is due a new handbag :)

Bike fit complete, new stem fitted which has shortened the reach and makes the bike feel like the one I used in Fueterventura, seat moved forwards slightly, seat lowered slightly and cleats adjusted.. time for a ride to see if the niggles I've developed recently have been banished.. took about an hour and a half, used some rig with lasers to measure key points on me and the bike then a few goes on the turbo trainer to try out the settings. said use the bike for two weeks and then come back for any final tweaking... of the bike, not me :) 85 quid the lighter though

85 quid! seems a lot but wouldn't mind betting i will be wishing i did it come 5pm on 6th June!

Mine is into the garage for a service tomorrow. Since i bought the new bike a few weeks back have done 300 odd miles and been very pleased with it. few niggles and noises that annoy me more than anything, hopefully they will sort it out and get it running quietly. There is nothing more annoying than listing to the same rattle or creak for 3 hours at a time!

A quick 24 for me today, ave 15.8 with quite a strong breeze, so not a bad ride Back pain coming on towards the end, so still some work to do.
Hope to do a 40 next weekend.

Nothing for me, bike in the shop for repairs. gonna have some catching up next week

Wouldn't stress H, I think both you and Gary are in good shape for the ride. I was in the US this week on business, and the only exercise was lifting the fork to the mouth, so I have much to do.

Had a couple of days working for myself when I put in a couple of rides in the AM followed by a reverse ride in the PM.

Still very cold first thing which makes me admire Zippy's early morning rides even more.

Intending to up the distance substantially over the next three weeks combined with some running to try and shift some Lbs. disappointingly I still weigh the same as I did on the first of Jan 2015!

Grrrrr. Bike shop called. Bike went in for a service and annoying creak from headset. Shop just called. Crack on fork. Needs to go back to giant for repair. Not be back this week.... Not going to help training....

There's a nice reliable bike in my garage waiting to be ridden :D

well - u lot did more riding than I did this weekend - I managed ZERO miles ... first time in I don't know how long that I hadn't even sat on a bike for a whole weekend ...

I did spend 2 hours of Saturday afternoon watching 113 people race a 10 mile TT ... it was a bit lonely standing at the far end of the course directing the riders off at that junction ... but I was a 1 man cheering band so I hope it helped them :)

Know that feeling, was in US in February and put on i don't know how much weight after 2 weeks!

Bike shop just called (who i have to say have been very good) saying that Giant are shipping a new set of forks from Holland this week. Usually 4 / 5 days delivery so looks like i am stuck with my mountain bike until the weekend at the very earliest.

Gary, don't suppose you are down on the boat this coming weekend? fancy a morning ride on Saturday in the forest (or anyone else local for that matter?) assuming i get my bike back i will be planning a 40 / 50 mile ride starting around 7.00 Saturday morning...
