Smart looking bike Gary, where did you get your top-tube panniers?

Getting there. 65 miles covered this week, faster ride the last one this afternoon, 8.5miles with an average speed of 19mph... quite happy with that :encouragement:

Now your just showing off!

Where do you get time? I was on the road at 5.30 this morning to get a pathetic 7 miles in before getting ready for work. Tonight it will be pitch black by the time i get home!

Howard, Gary has staff to do all the menial stuff, get the bike ready, pump tyres, quick massage before he goes cycling, then full massage on his return, bike serviced etc. If it is breezy, he has a motorbike tow him along. :D

Had a few problems with the bike over the last week. But mostly sorted now and put in 33 miles this morning. Portsdown Hill and Meon valley added up to 1800 feet of climbing. Knackered but fairly happy with that.

But on the day that will be about half way. Seems like there's still a lot of work to do.

If you can do 33 miles Dave, you'll nail the event without a problem (that's not an excuse for slacking though!)

Entered a Sportive this morning for 25th April as a nice warm up, but only the 57 mile option... its the Rutland Dare 2B Sportive if anyone else is interested... not too far away for you Gary...... :D

33 miles before 10.00? What time did you start?

beautiful day for a ride out there today.... hope those of you not getting boats ready to launch, or with the luxury of a boat already in the water, made the most of it.... first ride of the year for me in shorts and short sleeves!

A cheeky 13 miles at 19mph average... that'll do given how little time i've spent on the bike this year so far! (5th ride of the year I think.... :D )

I only managed 15 today, but just a quick ride out on my new toy.

Really pleased with this. I found that my Dawes is now a little too small for me, but the Echelon feels fantastic.

Anyone want a cheap Dawes Giro?

get that handlebar stem dropped below the spacers too!

And then if it feels comfortable, it can be shortened.

The lower position will be quicker.... less aero drag, and better hip angles for more power... but it doesn't suit everyone, hence try it with the spacers above the stem first before shortening it.

Not sure I am ready for that yet. The bike feels very comfortable to ride as it stands, but once used to it I will have another "fitting" session. I have popped my Look pedals on for now, but will swap to Time when I get the right cleats, and I'm not sure if I have the right saddle height yet. Saddle feels very comfy, it is not the lightest, but we will not be going for absolute speed on June 6th, just a a comfy and fun ride. The gear selectors are different to my old Dawes, and I made a few wrong selections today, but hopefully I will get used to it quite quickly.
This bike has the potential to take me much further though, if I can find the time to get the miles on.
