Stowe Navsounder

The existing depthsounder a Stowe Navsounder is ancient by todays gizmo's although it does a good job. In enquiring if I can have a new gizmo but keep
the transponder I was told certainly NOT! Is this salesman talk to get me to part
with money or can I really not use the existing transponder? I know that Stowe no longer exist but don't know who took over from them?
