I Have a stowe Robertson Autopilot which due to a marine electricial/engineers lack of knowledge on how to simply fit an alternator managed to wire the 2 new alternators that were fitted to my engines prior to my ownership, wrongly he removed 2 very nice double diode volvo alternators and fitted a single diode unit to each engine, he then simply took the output cables to both the engine start batteries and the domestics straight to the plus output terminal, and yes it coupled them all together, hence connecting the engine start/domestics in one shot. some time back I tried to start the engines with the main cut off in the off position, hence the load through the alternators, no damage done but what it did do for some reason was to place the autopilot to a "timeout" status, and now I dont have a manual to reset it.

I have contacted the only stowe agent to my knowledge to simply get a reply saying they cant help me, so has anyone got a stowe/robertson autopilot manual I can copy please?

I have tried to google but nothing comes up for my pilot, it does not even say what model it is on the keypad.

Oh and now the alternators have proper double diode split units from each engine.

I wont fully name the Hamble based engineer who claimed to be a Volvopenta expert, he sure has left me with a problem, thankyou Sean.

Have you googled Simrad autopilot, as they own Robertson, or is so old it pre-dates that?

Hi I have looked through Simrads site to try and find my pilot control but its not there, im going to ring them next week and ask them to look at the details of my boat for sale, there are some shots of my pilot control on there, this is not a pun to look at my boat but, if you go to jaykay marine website and look at princess 410 there are some shots of the control, maybe someone can identify the model as it was not even in the manual, which for some reason has disapeared.

Hi jimg, well yes its nearly the same, it seems that stowe had a go at autopilots and used simrad but simply had there own front facia made ( see my boat details) but yes a big thankyou, I have just downloaded the details to print off, its exactly the same as the lost manual set up, so will now wait for some decent weather to set it up.

Thanks also to all who replied.

I think it is the other way around. Simrad bought Stowe Robertson and used their technolgy closing down SR.
