The seal around the small "feeding" opening on my old Bengco stove has disintegrated and I can't find any made up replacement.

Can anyone recommend any sort of fire / heat resistant sealant that I can try and pipe round the opening and try and form a new seal.

Many thanks

Andy

Do they normally have a seal?

I'm not sure that mine has (I'll try to have a look at the weekend) and I can't see one in any of the photos on line (though they all have the 'door' closed).

If they do, then the fibre cord seals sold (in various thicknesses) for woodburner doors may be the answer. (Available from almost any stove shop or online.)

Fire rope or tape with recommended glue ( stove suppliers) or if sealant a proprietary silicone type sealant ( used on our wood burners and charcoal boat stove) - + gas alarm.

I've checked my Bengco and it doesn't appear to have any sort of seal around the feed chute.

Many thanks for checking. I had a chance to look at mine last week and there was definitely something fitted on the inside of the drop down flap. Whether this was factory fitted or added later due to distortion to the flap, I don't know.

I'm going to have a go at getting a better seal using fire cord.

Cheers
Andy

Hello Andibs - Maybe you can help. Have same problem with my Bengco. Did you manage to fix the leaking feeder chute ? If so very grateful if you could let me know what you used . All best Tony

I bought some cheap sealant tape off ebay and it did the trick for a while. Started to wear after a while but cheap enough to rip off and replace.

My son gave me a Chinese diesel heater for that Xmas so I don't use the bingo any more which is certainly a lot cleaner
