It seems that Storm Gloria hasn't given up yet and is still causing havoc.

Sant Carles Marina is tucked in behind the Ebro Delta where all the rice for the Spanish paellas is grown - that report shows the delta completely flooded.
A friend who is out at SC at the moment told me that the pontoon bridgeheads were virtually horizontal - he had never seen the water so high.

But the most disturbing photo I've seen for a long time is the one of Port Olympic (Barcelona) in that above report.

I'm going out for a few days next week so I will be able to check the boat.
Actually, the webcam is still running on the marina reception roof and everything in Sant Carles marina seems ok.

Were out here at the moment Torrevieja, storm seems to have finished now, however it was raging for two days , very violent waves around 2m high. All calm today though
 
that is a scary picture!
hopefully everyone stays safe. We are @ 20 miles south of Alicante at the moment and seemed to have escaped the worst. Just F8 - F9 winds and a lot of rain. Very little damage, although the beach is covered in debris.
 
This is a short report from a maintenance guy in Sant Carles.

Hi Guys,

Done the rounds of the pontoons and very little damage, one boat broke a line however thats it, no damage, water was high in the marina, no flooding. Power lines exploded in the area of the rice fields, visually impressive and probably quite dangerous if the fields were flooded.
80kmh winds and horizontal rain with a few flashes of lightning, I think the cell tower was struck as no gsm signal for a few hours.

can only get better from here.
 
Just a little ding to the back of our boat so all OK. Got off pretty lightly considering the water in the marina rose around 3 foot and was pretty much level with the quay. My guy says he's only seen anything like it once in the past 25 years. Two of the boatyard storage / shipping containers have been swept onto the beach.

Lots of other minor damage to other boats with owners thinking their boats are the only ones damaged.
 
Some of the footage from majorca daily bulletin looked pretty bad. A lot of boats washed up on pollensa beach. Think portals/Palma area got away with it fairly lightly. Guys who look after my boat said all is fine.

had looked on Windfinder and they predicted 3m waves in portal vells ?
 
There is a weather bout of Dragonara Island ( close to Andraxt) that was reported at 9m with a screen shot and later 14m!!!!!!!

The general position on passage whether was 7, waves from Mallorca to the mainland. The food shops have no fresh food in Mallorca as there were no ferries.

Some of the pics above are staggering. The power of the sea.

I am in Cala Dor and it is reported as nil damage. As above the boats on swinging mooring in Pollenca did not fare well . Sadly there is a degree of predictability about that as it s an open bay and there are lots of ( mostly illegal) moorings. It seems to happen a lot! Sympathies to the owners and their insurers ( who I am surprised take the winter risk)
