Storing of Flares

This may be a silly question, where do you store flares on your boat?

I have always stored mine in the cabin in a water proof container with easy access, I would stored them near the helm but feel someone would walk off with them. Do you think it is safe to store flares in the cabin. My boat is a small 25ft sport cruiser.

Mine are in a sealed container in the Laz. Placed for easy access, but out of the way of the ever more curious young grand children!

I store mine near the helm, and others in the stern locker, follow the manufacturers instructions for storage and there is no problem.

By the helm in a watertight container. Easy access being the priority.
