Our gas locker has space for just one Camping Gaz 907 bottle, spares are kept in the anchor locker which is drained. Problem is that the spare bottles become badly corroded. I tried packing the bottles in heavy duty plastic sacks but they quickly developed holes due to abrasion. Heavy duty plastic containers with screw top lids would be nice but can't find any the right size (20cm dia x 25cm depth). Anybody got an ideas ?

I carried a Camping Gaz bottle in the anchor locker inside a B&Q Tilefix bucket with lid. I tend to recycle plastic buckets and this one was taller than most 5 litre paint buckets and a snugger fit being narrower. I find the lid is quite secure and adds rigidity, it could be taped on if necessary.
To keep heavy stuff from sliding forward into the point of the locker I made a sort of removable bulkhead out of a bit of 4x2 with plywood feet which goes across about half way forward; the space in front is just used for a couple of spare fenders. The chain is contained in a large alkathene kitchen basin with drain holes in the bottom and the rope is on a home made wooden reel which nestles beside the basin.
Afraid I don't know a handy source for these buckets but your local tiler might be throwing some out, not hard to wash out with water but don't put the residue down the sink.

Ask around at your club, old flare containers might do it. Otherwise, canoe shops sell similar ones. Maybe a local pub/takeaway/restaraunt would have catering size mayonnaise or sauce containers - I have one the size of a bucket!

Had a look at some boaty screw top plastic bottles, Gael force do four sizes, however the 250mm dia ones have tapered necks and would not admit a gas bottle. Very pricey too at around £20.
