Back on board our group owned yacht.
Once again ...nothing is in. Its place.
There IS ' a place for every thing ' and a list in download able format. Other members don't seem to bother downloading the list keep phoning me to ask where stuff is and then chuck it somewhere else. I am considering developing a spread sheet so that items are listed in storage area and also alphabetically. Is there an app of some kind that will do the job.
Shall I turn down phone requests!?

Sorry mate, can't remember, have you downloaded the spreadsheet ?

Oh, don't forget to put it back in the same place when you've finished with it .

We use a spreadsheet.

A while back I drew a rough sketch/plan of boat showing all lockers and storage and every time I put something on the boat I made a note of where. I was going to laminate it for use with a ‘white board’ pen but haven’t got round to it yet.

I have seen an app but it was more for superyachts and crew. Also believe there was a fee?
Can't remember the name but I am sure a search will turn something up.

I assume a dymo label list on the outside of every locker and drawer has been ruled out for aesthetic reasons?

Because if it hasn't serendipity will return every single item to the correct place as if by magic. All your problems will be over.

It is an issue! We try to limit contents lists to Insides of lockers etc.

I knocked up one of these and laminated it ..

Currently creating the same. I sail with many friends through the season, so easier with a graphic.

@pcatterall
Use an online file area like Google Docs. Use Microsoft Excel or Apple Numbers to create the table and sort anyway you wish. Also Microsoft Word tables can do basic sorting on columns. No doubt there is something free with similar functionality.

Unfortunately in any relationship effort is unevenly distributed, so perhaps lower your expectations and just be the spreadsheet man.

When selecting crew, never mind about sailing qualifications/experience, just check they hold a valid OCD diagnosis. 😄
I select mine on the ability to follow clear instructions, such as " the red thing down there somewhere, maybe under the wotsit on the right" - for the blue thing in the cockpit on top of the thing to my left

Joking aside, a smart stowage plan is a lovely thing - I've never got beyond a list on the inside of doors/lids

My god, it’s like being back at work reading a drilling (oil and gas) program.

There is an app called YachtWave which will do it (not sure if you can share between users, especially for free) but there’s no point - if people don’t put stuff back where you think it belongs / came from they will be very unlikely to look up an app to see where it goes when they can just find somewhere it fits.

This will only work if all the labels read MISC.

It worked like magic for me with wife/young kids who just don't GAF if anything can ever be found again once it's out of sight.

Aesthetically it's a catastrophe, obvs.
