Stop cock lubrication?

I have cleaned up my old style stopcocks and wondered what the best lubrication is in them. The are for the head water in and waste out.
Could I use Copper Ease?

If they are blakes seacocks you can get blakes seacock grease, green stuff i think..

ok with most other type also...

I think so, as long as it's thick, I used to use Castrol "Heavy Grease"

There are no uses for KY on a boat - I think

Use Blakes Grease, you can also use it on winches /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Every grease manufacturer produces a range of greases for different applications - heat resistant, high pressure tolerant, water resistant, high adhesive etc. There are usually some other words added to confuse the issue - 'lime based', 'lithium based', 'mineral' and so on.

And then there is the 'Use Only my Grease' brigade who put their firm's name on one of these standard greases and charges three times as much. Blake's is a good example of a re-labelled water resistant grease.

Any water resitant grease will do fine.
