My copper coat antefoul is 11 years old and the boat is coming out of the water next week for various items of maintenance.
Is copper coat worthwhile ? Should I consider applying ordinary angefoul over the top of copper coat ?

This should require no more than a pressure wash to get rid of the buildup that may have occurred since the last time the boat was lifted. If you feel that the copper coat is less effective than it used to be, it is worth reactivating it by scouring all over using a rough Scotch-Brite pad. It is absolutely not a good plan to apply standard anti-foul over the top.

Will it scrub clean or does it really need the pressure wash to keep it active? Thinking about just drying out somewhere avoiding need to have a lift out.

Found the coppercoat on mine useless on the medway. Had it done by some cowboys at a cost of 2k back in 2021. Always had loads of barnacles and growth. This season had it sanded and primocon then micron 350. See how it goes. Antifoul looks much smarter than coppercoat after it's tarnished

Looking at your previous posts suspect you are on fresh water ?
Would suggest you simply clean that Coppercoat and relaunch.
If you are desperate to spend your hard earned, you could over coat with ordinary soft A/F but judging by just how little fouling occurs in fresh water on boats up there, probably not worth it.

Out of interest, you are supposed to apply some sort of (expensive) undercoat to help ordinary A/F to remain attached to Coppercoat.
We just slapped it over the top with a roller, it did stay on.

Liking the novel generic term "Antefoul", with its implication that its a class of paint you apply before you get fouling.

"Ordinary angefoul" I'm not so sure of. A class of paint that makes people angry?

I have coppercoat on the hull of my previous boat and a small bit of normal antifoul on my cast iron swing keel. So a good annual comparison. I always lifted her for a jetwash in end july to keep her smooth for racing. There always was equal growth on both areas. So both are as ineffective, or effective , as each other.

The advantage, to me , of coppercoat is that once jetwashed you get back to an epoxy smooth finish with no build up of af.
Plus no hassle of doing it every year.

I believe that when it starts thining at 10 years r you can abrade the surface and add just 2 or 3 new layers and it will haveca strong mechanical bond.
