About 15 years ago I had a Sunbird trailer and all equipment inc. skis etc.nicked off my drive. The theft was investigated by C Claims in their usual efficient manner. I was eventually paid out about £1000 out of pocket. I couldnt help thinking at the time that they were suspecious that it was an 'inside job'. Recently I have foud out that the boat was recovered from Torquay Marina which lead to Police action. Dont you think that the insurance co. as a matter of goodwill should have notified Me that the craft had been recovered? Dave.

Funny you should say that, my van went missing 3 weeks ago and last friday had an 'over the phone' interview to explain the lose to an "investigator". Got exactly the same unwarranted feeling during conversation with her????
Maybe it's a job requirement to make us feel guilty about taking money off them!
Or is this nanny state making us paranoid or what?
Wonder if they might read this?

I aggree exactly with that, It now belongs to the Insurance Firm, But do Insurance firms ever have Auctions to sell these items off? Surely there must be some good bargains to be had??

I had a car stolen last summer, got paid out less excess of £250
Car was recovered, undamaged 2 weeks later and I argued that I should get my excess back if they sold the car at no loss.
They said don't be daft.
I never pursued it as who can be bothered, but what does the team think on the principal of my case -

Well, that would be reasonable wouldn't it, but unfortunately your talking about an insurance company, and their aim is to make as much money as possible so *dream on*!!!!!

I have similar thoughts about the toerag that kicked in my back door a couple of weeks ago and relieved me of the GPS and chartplotter (as well as SWMBO's jewellery).
Sod tho..... i'd taken it off the boat and brought it home for security!!!

Anyway thanks to a certain forum member in Guernsey for supplying replacements in pronto time at very reasonable cost. PLUG! PLUG!

Insurance Co's get as much as they can but sometimes have appeared to cosy up to particular dealers. A pal of mine caused a load of grief to a certain party after being offered a nice boat for £85000, 'provided the cash was there within the next 4 hours as 'somebody else has agreed to buy it', they clearly didn't expect it to happen, but he got there in two hours and the insurance guy had some explaining to do!! The boat was a great buy.
