STOLEN BOAT

[ QUOTE ]
Why are we so concerned with someone typing in capitals?...

It tends to be considered as a bit like your bank manager writing to you in crayon - hard to take seriously - and is a generally held view, not just peculiar to this forum.

Even though it is unfashionable in modern education, some people also appreciate reasonable grammar and spelling.

Well that I propose to be ridiculous. I also appreciate grammar and try to remain within the bounds of what is acceptable. I fully accept that my grammar is often not technically correct but I do try my best.

When corresponding with another who has equal difficulty with technically correct communication I try my hardest to understand the point that he/she is trying to make - I do not ridicule and belittle as seems to be the way of this forum. The analogy I see as direct - the original poster may not be aware of the technically correct manner of communication but he was doing what he thought was correct.

I often see supposed "regulars" posting on here with language I can barely understand but because they are "regulars" it is accepted. The "slapping" of a non-conforming contributor is simply a form of exclusion by the regulars of "newbies" - and I hate it.

Caps lock on is the www's equivalent of shouting. This is fairly well known. Within a post or two this was highlighted but it continued. Now either they ignored it or didn't read a reply to their post. Choose either as both are a bit poor.

Grammar and spelling should not be corrected on this forum, except in jest. But the guy's history is that he asks a question and when it is answered he doesn't post again, not even to say 'thank you'. So when he posts a troll to ask help to find a boat he lost ten years ago, for which he got compensation and does it it capitals, he deserves a put down.

Unless, of course, when he said "IT HAS TAKEN ME 10 YEARS TO RECOVER COST OF BOAT", he meant "It has taken me 10 years to recover over the cost of the boat". But, you see, I didn't want to criticise his sentence construction.

Don't mean to pick but if you read the thread he does say that the boat wasn't insured and hence got nothing back.

Then he alludes that he recovered money from Sealine.......but we don't really know because he keeps shouting. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
