Another one for the informed collective....

What is the best way to remove sticky residue (from, er... 'stickers'..... ) left on Lewmar acrylic portlight windows?

Obviously nothing abrasive, but I have heard of soaking in WD40, and similar ideas, but reluctant to try it for fear of melting same. Having just replaced one window (crazing caused by who knows what), I don't want the expense / hassle of replacing another because I used the wrong method!

It is the galley window, and rather important that my ISBH is able to see out when she is on duty in that area. (I am too busy concentrating on cooking when I am down there, so I don't notice so much.....).

All help gratefully received!

WD 40 is mostly white spirit, or something very similar, so white spirit is worth a try other wise "Sticky Stuff Remover" Surely you have some of this at home ?

Acetone, not nail varnish remover!

3M do a citrus spray that dissolves most sticky stuff - including old [Evo-stick] type contact adhesive.

Thanks all for the help with this (sorry for delay, I have been offline for over a week!).

Will look into and try a few of the solutions (no pun intended), and keep you posted!

I use thinners No 3 for removing the labels from jam jars for my wife to use for bottling her marmalade. Beats white spirit any day - needs very little to get all of the stickiness off. Best to use it in a well ventilated place rather than in the kitchen!

But it can be very aggressive on plastics!
