i have a glassed in sterntube, which is getting a new cutlass bearing fitted, i had to drill out the grub screws, which had been filed down flush with the tube, what type of metal do i need to use to make up a new grub screw, the sterntube is of a yellow type metal and pretty soft. (presume naval brass, but only guessing)
I have noticed other metals in p brackets in the yard some are a lot browner metal which tend to have stainless steel allen headed screwed in as grub screws.
Do i need to get a similar metal for the grub screw or can a stainless steel one be used and loctited in, or will dissimilar metal cause problems.
