Is its a re-connection of cables or a rewind of the motor itself ? The former would likely be straightforward, the latter not so.

Where is the boat and thruster motor presently ?

Hi Paul,

I had to have an, admittedly much smaller, electric motor from one of our on board Sanisplit units rewound last year, searched and searched trying to find a solution rather than fork out the multiple £100's for a new replacement. Found this company : http://www.robsonandfrancisrewinds.co.uk/ who look to be rewinding specialists. They did a superb, well priced, armature rewind for me. You may get a full solution via Osmotech (from my experience a very good if pricy company) but if you want to look at an alternative although not marine based then R&F might be worth a try. I suspect they'll only do the motor rewind/repair rather than a full remove/repair/refit but you might be doing some of that yourself anyway. Osmotech would only be sending the motor to someone like these guys anyway.

I would suspect the advice here is very accurate. We closed our own rewind shop down a couple of years ago, and there is little financial motive for small motor rewinds presently. Worth while also seeking out a firm who do automotive alternator or starter motor rewinds, although these too are becoming increasingly rare now.

I would be happy to re-connect it, but would not want to go anywhere near a rewind of it.

Thanks to all, the motor is already removed and currently with Osmotech for confirmation of what is possible - a replacement unit is £960 + vat, so not in a rush to spend that if it can be avoided
