I did think about doing something similar for my little one (who I'm guessing is around the same age 13 months)....
....But then again, I'm on the Med, so do it the "Med Way" ...

Takes a bit of co-ordination between myself and the missus to get her on the swim platform and into the sea, but after that, in her floating ring there's no stopping her.
