I have an old 35 foot yacht that we are slowly renovating and finally I have got around to the steering pedestal. It appears to be an old Solimar model and there is significant corrosion to the section that houses the engine controls. After much fiscal juggling, the finances are in place to purchase either a Vision II Edson pedestal or a Jefa 150 wide head one. Any opinion either way are are they much of a muchness. All thoughts and opinions valued (within reason)

My pedestal is Jefa (with a 1500mm. wheel) A bit of play developed in the stand, email to Jefa, straight back with instructions/diagrams how to adjust, plus a phone call to ask how I got on, my limited experience of the product is good, the after service is excellent. However where the stainless hoop passes through the white powder coated alloy lugs the paint is beginning to pimple slightly, after 8 years. A dissimilar metals in contact situation? I love Jefa's website, lots of interesting stuff.
I have had an Edson pedestal, similar product, similar opinion but a long time ago.
I suspect Jefa might make stuff for Lewmar, above deck the pedestal is badged 'Jefa' under the deck you can see a 'lewmar' label

Have you considered getting the corroded section refurbished and painted/powder-coated? Be a lot easier than changing the whole pedestal, not to mention cheaper.

Can't say about Edson but Jefa were very helpful last year when we had to replace a locating ring in the rudder top bearing
