Hi after getting my teak looking really good again can you recommend a good teak oil sealer which will protect and keep my teak looking as well as it does at present thanks for taking the time to help me..
I used Starbrite last season, and was quite happy with it. Easy to use, and the teak looked good. However, it did not stand up to the weather very well on the bathing platform, but I don't know if anything else would perform better. In the cockpit, under the canvass, it still looks good. I might try boggo builders merchant stuff this year as a comparison.
The Star Brite Tropical Sealer is great, gives a nice colour. We've used it on the shower gratings and after 5 years are still perfect with lots of use thoughout the season, as we are big water sports and use the shower alot.
In the aft cockpit, I've just used the Skipper's Choice for cleaning, Blakes Teak cleaner aka oxalic acid powder, and I will be using the Star Brite again.
You definitely need to use the brightener / oxcalic acid as without it, the oil tends to blacken the wood instead of colouring it as I found out on a test patch.
