We have a Standard Horizon VHF with Remote Mic/control/speaker at the helm. The remote failed recently due to some rather kak handed treatment by a crew member.
I contacted SH for advice, describing the failure mode ( PTT still works and so does the power button, all else dead ) SH detailed that there was a fuse in the main unit ( PCB mounted ) that was designed to protect the Mic. Being in Greece I don't want to ship the unit to the UK for repair. Their answer? Post me spare fuses and replacement instructions so that a local techie can do the job.
The charge when I enquired? 'Don't worry about it, cost us pennies and a stamp!'
Bravo Standard Horizon!
