My boat has stanchion bases with a rounded front, with the hole pattern being trapezoid. Stamped 'Vetus'. Several have obvious metal fatigue cracks and have to be replaced. Decision - a) do I try and source these and keep the same bolt holes; b) have a set made up to similar dimensions (pricey) or c) purchase solid replacements and drill and epoxy the existing holes then make new holes to fit the new stanchions??

Try Vitesse Marine at Fareham in Hampshire as their our local Vetus agents, usually very helpful and well stocked.

Re. CCScott49's suggestion, check <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.vetus.nl/producten/product_main_94_2.asp>HERE</A> if the current Vetus model will match yours.

Thanks for the link, AndrewB. Thanks also to others.

Vetus agent send me an email - seems they don't make the type I have any more, and the catalog link confirms it.

Sigh. Seems like have some made or plug holes and redrill to fit standard ones. I probably should do it all proper, like. And least standard bases will be...standard.

I've just been in the market for bases myself, which is why I had that link. There are loads of different types available, no need to stick with Vetus if something else might fit better. Try Plastimo, ECSmith, West Marine catalogues for example. Many yacht makers supply spares for their own recent models, so look round your marina for something that might suit.

Or like me, you might end up making them to fit - much cheaper too!
