Staand mast route Spaarndam

I have done night route south to Gouda in one hit OK but you cannot hang about. I was lucky, bridge at schipol opened a bit earlier than advertised.
i am currently in Ostend and heading to Amsterdam when crew arrives end of next week.

Can anyone comment on how full the harbours like middleburgh are at the minute. Ostend has been packed.

also can someone direct me to a website with info re the situation at Harlem and Sparndam please.
would rather go via harlem and back via night route if possible
If you want to miss the inevitable crowds in Middleburg and the Veersmere then take he southern channel up the Westerschelde and then the Hansweert canal straight into the Oosterschelde. Catching the tide is crucial but it's much quicker. You also avoid the hanging about for the convoy system in the canal to Middleburg.

Oostende > Roompotsluis (mebe overnight in Breskens or Vlissengen Town )

Try www.rijnland.net for info on the Spaarndam lock. Not sure it's bang up to date though. The harbour master made some calls and reckons they might make a decision on Wednesday (or not).
Meanwhile we are waiting for the night convoy but as we came into the waiting dock there was notice saying no service at Leimuiderbug! So we may get stuck again.
Not done the delta area yet but all the harbours on Markermeer & Ijselmeer have had reasonable capacity, they always seem able to squeeze a few more in somehow.
We took our Stella into Ostend when Robert was HM. He said "moor in that corner"
" but there isn't a space"
"Well, f ***ing make one!"

Thanks i will try it when i can get a decent connection
one thing about robert was that he told me that as long as i had only a 31 ft boat he would never turn me away.i was rafted up 11 boats out on the outer pontoon one night

Dunno if this will help

Its bound to be busy with skool hols in full swing
Thanks.
There are lots of boats heading home and those going inland are almost certain to stop at Middleburgh if leaving Ostend. When the tide turns this place virtually empties. It is just that we like to stop there, hire bikes & cycle to veere for the day plus cycle back along the canal to flushing & do a circuit of middleburgh. The minature village is worth a visit as well so it makes a full day stop over

OK,another chapter in this saga.
At Ijmond we were told that the Amsterdam convoy route was open so off we trot, not fancying the forecast for the outside passage.
A sign at the entrance bridge says that the bridge at Leimuiderbug is broken, OK we'll wait there.
Up & ready at 2am lots of activity on all yachts. They let a cruise ship through then the bridge closes again. Apparently the sluis at Nieuwe meer is broken, no info for how long yet. There are now about 60 yachts waiting.
Start to plan for the outside passage when the coastguard issues a gale warning, Southerly of course.
I'm beginning to think we may have a Jonah on board and it could be me!

Well, we did the night convoy, quite an experience but no dramas despite 60 boats.
A local suggested we visit Leiden which we did via de Kaag.
What a delightful place, why didn't we visit before?
It's freshers week, so pretty lively with student revels but all extremely good humoured.
My favourite place to date I think.

That's interesting. There's a berth-holder in Amsterdam marina that often takes his largish motor boat down to Leiden. We've always gone direct Haarlem > Alphen aan den Rijn > Gouda. Maybe next year.

That's the route we have taken in previously but you're missng a treat. Council run visitor moorings so basic loos and showers, no posh marina.
The visitor haven was busy so we are in the singel, (sort of old defence moat).
It's 11pm and every few minutes a group of 20 to 30 cyclists go by. Where are they all of to? Could be a good party, but I might not pass as a student

I thought I was joking, but we're now in the inner harbour at Gouda and apparently the sluis is defective so they can't let us out.
Looks like another lazy day.

The museum is good and the old town hall amusing. The cheese isn't bad either. The longest church nave in the country, and most of its stained glass.
