ST60 Wind Transducer Rubber Dust Cap

Should this be left dangling to the mastblock when fitting the transducer or removed and just fitted when you remove it? The o ring on the shaft above the plug looks less likely to seal with it in place and I can't imagine the cap lasting very long dangling in the breeze / UV anyway? Thanks

I removed it each Spring before re-ftting the 'ducer. Not difficult and not required with the 'ducer fitted.
