St Helier

Yup. Too many facts spoil the wrath. We actually know quite a lot about what happened now, including Andy Hibbs' version of events.

in which according to the JEP he admitted sending an email to HQ using a word that sounds similar to something that usually goes with oars

Can you not use that here? I thought it was only swear words that Americans understand that were banned.

I see the RNLI are now paying television advertising rates for something called the "Turkey Dash"..

Except that the RNLI are not paying a penny, quite the opposite

Took me about ten seconds to find that it's a TV fund raising thing run jointly by Channel 4 and PayPal to raise money for six charities, one of which this year is indeed the RNLI, with Aardman providing the virtual turkeys!

How dare you start posting facts on this thread! It utterly ruins the run of ill informed gossip and geriatric rants.

Fair comment, I was mistaken on that so I'll change the post.

The second part still stands about the turkey dash to Jersey ;)

Did they take the side of the person ordering the handover? Andy Hibbs' says he was cleared by the RNLI and that the accusation was regarding an unauthorised launch:

No, Andy and the crew (rightly) took the side of the casualty vessel and therefore removed income from the State's vulture boat.

The problem with Jersey "Coastguard" is that it isn't really a coastguard, it's an operator who is part of the state's port control - the same port control who make money from sending their tug out to demand tows, at a cost.

It's a completely untenable situation, a long way from the days when there was a proper Coastguard at Corbiere.
