Click to expand... Not so, ham is alive and well. Many vibrant and active clubs around. Check a popular band on a contest, jam packed with stations. Modern kids are as smart as any other kids, into www, usb, lsb, psk31 etc etc. And ham still plays a major part in disaster areas like Katrina or Haiti when most other comms goes down. Maybe the ARC type once across the pond boats tend towards satellite but both ham & ssb are still out there, alive and kicking.
