Spreader lights?

I have a Moody 31. There’s a lot of similarity between the models of that era.
Yes, I think the construction, internal and external of similar sized models was pretty much the same.

Regarding your comment on the steaming/deck light - the "wings" of the light seem to wrap around the mast with fixings near the outer corners. My question is - how are they fastened, screws or pop-rivets?

I found the light you mentioned, quite widely available from ebay and online chandlers, so easy to get hold of. All I need to do now is climb the mast and take it off!
 
If you can't turn it off from the helm I don't think this meets the intent (turn off immediately as needed so you do not blind someone).

What ever is done will have its + and - factors ....

OP was talking about a wandering power cable through the forehatch ? So hows he going to turn that off from the helm ?? I'd rather go fwd ON deck and still see around than into cabin to switch off the light .......
