Sprayhoods

Ahhhh. Oops. I had noticed that.

I also still think that if it had made so that the zips zipped all the way to the cockpit floor, i.e. the door section being an inch narrower, then once zipped closed you would not have any more poppers to fasten.

There might be reasons not to do that, but the second set of pics showed what I'm thinking.

Should it be of interest there is a Najad 460 on utube sailing Ran and while seem to have sold up now to build a boat their vids show back screen in use when sailing . My concern would’ve to ensure enough space to sit inside when sailing ie sprayhood goes back far enough . Interested to hear price of a back panel though?

I fitted a full cockpit enclosure that overlapped the spray hood and was tensioned by a couple of tape straps, the rear frame work was on sliders and lay unobtrusively on the combing when not in use. It gad detachable vinyl windows both sides and at the rear so in those rare summer days or south of the Raz they could be unzipped and you had a Bimini. It couldn't be used underway because the mainsheet traveller was across the bridge deck.

I will try to dig some photos out, it was an enormous benefit and addition to the boat.

Here's an photo which shows the arrangement for the rear support frame and the sliders that allowed storage on the combing. Yacht was a Vancouver 34C

I should have photos showing it erected inside and out will try to find them

I was just at the point of writing the log up at about 05.55 prior to change of watch ( sounds a bit grand as it was just noting the position on the chart with heading etc) when I heard a buzzing sound up at the back of the quarter berth, so I pulled my sleeping bag out couldn't see anything and stuck my head out of the companion way to see the rod flex and the 50lb test line go tight then go ping, a big tuna probably.
